Rough Crossing
On an ocean liner sailing from Southampton to New York in 1932 we find two authors, a composer with a speech impediment, a leading lady desperately trying to hide an affair, and a would-be Lothario of a leading man, all trying to come up with a new ending to their Broadway-bound musical that opens in a week. Described as 'Tom Stoppard on holiday', the play sparkles with rapid repartee and bilingual puns. The musical numbers by André Previn makes Rough Crossing a piece of entertainment that would make Irving Berlin giggle.
