Set in the 1860s, and with a cast of twelve, the play tells of a chance meeting between Anne Catherick and Mr Hartright which starts a chain of events that lead to a well hidden secret.
Mr Hartright is on his way to Limmeridge Hall to become the drawing tutor to Laura Fairlie, an heiress. When this strange meeting occurs, Laura’s fiancé, Sir Peter Glyde, is being hounded for money by his old friend the malevolent Count Frosco.
The story of unhappy Laura and the plot to deprive her of her fortune is as gripping now as when Collins first wrote it.
