Description

MARGATE, KENT – The Tom Thumb Players present the world premiere of A Dreamland Sideshow Christmas, a seasonal extravaganza for the whole family.

The show will officially relaunch the Tom Thumb Theatre, following a dark period of a number of years. A family determined to save the historic building from property developers purchased the Theatre at auction in April 2009. A Dreamland Sideshow Christmas aims to place the Tom Thumb firmly back at the heart of the community.

Dreamland, Margateʼs now derelict Fun Park, may be dormant, but one Dreamland sideshow is thriving … sort of. Desperate times call for desperate measures. Sven Jolly, the ever-canny impresario, has forced a holiday theme onto his sideshow to raise sales. Now his band of aweinducing curiosities must attempt to bring Christmas to Margate. Featuring Meredith the Margate Mermaid, George the Werefox, The Fortune Teller, and the amazing, microscopic Tom Thumb - this is a holiday show with a twisted twist.

Offering a fresh take on seasonal entertainment, the company have drawn inspiration from Dreamland, the work of JMW Turner, the stunning Kent coastline and stories provided verbatim by the Margate community. The brand new Tom Thumb Theatre is proud to present an innovative and imaginative production. A Dreamland Sideshow Christmas is part promenade; part experiential adventure; part installation; part fair; part circus; and all theatrical delight. . . wrap up warm and bring a brolly!

A Dreamland Sideshow Christmas has an approximate running time of ninety minutes, including an intermission where the audience are invited to explore the Sideshow at their own pace: witnessing strange sights, playing games and delighting in refreshments. Sven Jolly and his band of awe-inducing curiosities present a Christmas extravaganza for the whole family.
